Many visitors and influential guests at the joint Empa and Switzerland Innovation Park Ost stand at OLMA in St. Gallen: In addition to Federal President Ignazio Cassis, St. Gallen Mayor Maria Pappa and other political players were on hand; as well as Empa Director Tanja Zimmermann and Roland Ledergerber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Switzerland Innovation Park Ost.

In the first project, researchers from the participating institutions showed how food waste can be reduced with the help of sensors and computer simulations - created with the help of digital "fruit twins." In the second project, Empa researchers worked with industry partners to demonstrate a chest strap developed for long-term monitoring of cardiovascular patients. It had been validated in the sleep laboratory of the Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen and is now to be marketed by the Empa spin-off Nahtlos AG.

At the OLMA, SIP Ost will be present in Hall 3.1 together with the Empa Research Institute and the Smartfeld education lab, which focuses on children and young people, and will provide information at the stand about various innovation promotion offers, among other things.

At another OLMA stand, Empa, together with the Avenergy Suisse association, which represents the interests of importers of liquid fuels, and the Osterwalder St. Galler AG company, will be providing information on innovative trends in mobility with electric and hybrid drives and hydrogen as an environmentally friendly fuel.
